Tits or GTFO!

Icelandic demigods, Sigur Rós punctured and lodged themselves into the feeling’s part of my heart many years ago. Their swirling, ethereal, orchestral magnitude never fails to lift me from my grind and place me softly/squarely into mind numbing indifference. It’s the best place to be, trust me!

Permission to divulge one of my fondest memories? I cannot attest further without mentioning my sometimes friend, sometimes estranged, sometimes foe, Zeal. A talented jeweller from Vienna nay Australia. We shared a platonic, sangria/cigar fuelled bed. He revealed genius in sharing one singular iPod earphone. We lay side by side, like two innocents, no touchy feely’s, staring at the ceiling! He pressed play on this song! I have no words!

On May 17th 2012, their official website presented a one hour live stream release of their 6th studio album “Valtari”. A worldwide musical listening party if you will. Their first squeak in 4 years, made ripples around the world with a concept called Valtari Hour. For me it was one of those “Where were you when it happened?” moments. The band encouraged listeners to tweet, update, insta, cooee their feelings and share the love. What a concept!

If the album’s release wasn’t enough to stir, Sigur Rós gave a dozen film makers the same budget and asked them to create whatever comes in to their head when they listen to songs from the band’s forthcoming album. The idea was to abandon the usual approval process from Sigur Rós, and allow film makers utmost creative freedom.

Here’s Almar Har’el’s contribution to the experiment, a clip starring Shiah La Beouf, showcasing the track “Fjögur Píanó”

If you don’t like tits, things that make you go Hmmm, 8 minute arthouse wind ups or Shiah LaBeouf’s penis, this isn’t for you!

Shit’s bout to get weird!

‘mind numbing indifference’. Now there’s a place I’d like to visit. This wasn’t it though. Far too much emotion and beauty here, and I was definitely involved in the moment.

I understand your point completely. I achieve said indifference when I have their entire discography playing in the background, like a soundtrack to my life.
