Pour Me Another Drink And Punch Me In The Face!

Beautifully bearded, blue eyed, baben singer/guitarist/songwriter Father John Misty is a dead set cracker jack. I’ve just spent the most part of my night trolling his blog and related articles and now I feel cuckoo!

Aka J.Tillman, recently left Seattle based indie humdingers Fleet Foxes to pursue his solo career.  He doesn’t seem to think he had much to do with Fleet Foxes phenomena  “People have really exaggerated my involvement with Fleet Foxes; they had two records done by the time I joined the band and the writing was already on the wall that they were going to be the next big thing. I just learned the drum parts for their songs and tried to execute them as best as I could”

I say Hey, hey, take it easy tiger, don’t be so hard on yourself! Your contribution made an impact on me.

With lyrics like “Jesus Christ Girl, what are people gonna think?”  striking the feck out of my chords. There’s nothing not to love about this song!

High fives all round for choosing “Parks and Recreation” uber actress Aubrey Plaza to star in his music clip. God love that girl. She pushes all my buttons!

FJM recently released his album “Fear and Fun”  and describes the process like so, “I got into my van with enough mushrooms to choke a horse and started driving down the coast with nowhere to go. After a few weeks, I was writing a novel, which is where I finally found my narrative voice…. It was a while before that voice started manifesting in a musical way, but once I settled in the Laurel Canyon spider-shack where I’m living now, I spent months demoing all these weird-ass songs about weird-ass experiences almost in real-time, and kind of had this musical ‘Oh-there-I-am’ moment, identical to how I felt when I was writing the book.”

When you download and listen to his album 3 times in a row like I just did, what you’re really saying to the world is “YESSIRR,  I am ready to feel good”

I think it’s the cowards way out posing lyrics as blog post titles, but please do me a solid and listen to this next track. You’ll understand why I had no better choice!

You can call me Nancy!
